Join us and learn how you can use music & hip hop culture to teach Algorithms! The session will be led by our friends at CodeScty and is designed to show educators how to deliver fun, interactive lessons with their students.

About CodeScty

At CodeScty we use original hip hop music, videos and learning activities to teach computer science and computational thinking concepts to young people. Imagine Schoolhouse Rock for computer science - but lit!

Our goal is to transform young people from passive users of technology to innovative problem solvers. In a soundbite, we teach how to think before learning how to code. We aim to increase access and engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) to more diverse communities.

Our original songs, videos and courses embrace multiple learning modalities: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Multimodal learning helps diverse classrooms stay engaged and connected to content by providing a variety of entry points to information.

Standards Based Curriculum

The music and videos create a 1-to-1 relationship between the lyrics and computer science learning standards and serve as the vehicle to translate complex ideas. This includes “Concept” songs that teach actual computer science foundations, as well as “Perspective” songs that stimulate the imagination and inspire what’s possible in tech.
