NEW in 2022! We will expand the fellowship to include about 20 fellows, across two cohorts (for both teachers and non-teachers).
 

What Equity Fellows Do

  • Share their expertise with CSTA members across the globe, including on stage at the CSTA Annual Conference and Equity in Action Summit
  • Develop professional learning experiences (e.g., online PD courses, webinar series, virtual conferences, chapter PD) for the CSTA community
  • Collaboratively design and implement a project to promote equity in CS education
  • Represent CSTA and the PK-12 CS education community

Applications for the 2022-23 cohort closed on Aug. 14, 2022. Application for the 2023-24 cohort to open in early July 2023. In the meantime, you can nominate an educator, including yourself, and we will message them when the next application opens.
 

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a current PreK-12 CS teacher OR educational leader (e.g., coach, administrator, specialist, curriculum or PD provider, or other role who supports PreK-12 CS teachers).

  • Submit an application by Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022.
     

Selection Criteria

  • Has demonstrated evidence of disrupting the inequities in CS impacting one or more marginalized groups including: female and non-binary students; Black, Latinx, and Native students; English language learners; and students with disabilities.

  • Clearly articulates effective strategies to support equitable access, engagement, and achievement in computer science education.

  • Is self-reflective, and desires to grow and evolve as a leader.

  • Is deeply commitment to social justice and the success of all students, especially those from marginalized groups.

  • Leverages collaboration and partnerships, and understands the need for a systems-level approach.

  • Has clear, creative, and thoughtful ideas for how to improve equitable access and achievement at a broader scale in the CSTA community.

Convenings

  • Sept. 30 - Oct. 1: convening #1 (virtual)

  • Nov 4-5: convening #2 (in-person*)

  • Jan. 27-28: convening #3 (tentatively in-person*)

  • March 31- April 1: convening #4 (virtual)

  • June 2-3: convening #5 (in-person*)

* In-person convenings will be held all day on Friday and Saturday, with travel to/from the location on Thursday and Sunday. All travel expenses will be covered by CSTA. Locations are still TBD.

Monthly Meetings

One Monday per month from 5-7 p.m. CT (Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 27, March 20, April 24, May 15, June 12, and Aug. 14)
