About CSPDWeek
CSPDWeek is a week-long, 30-hour professional development experience helping teachers build computer science content knowledge and teaching skills, with PD credits available for recertification. Launched in South Carolina, the program has expanded to additional states including Indiana and Arizona.

Preface
An earlier version of this Playbook was first created by Rosemary Bianchi based on South Carolina’s CSPDWeek events in 2020 and 2021. Inspiration for South Carolina’s CSPDWeek came from the 2019 CSTA Annual Conference presentation by Arizona and New Mexico teams, as well as a 2019 ECEP Convening / CSEdCon Panel Discussion with Nevada, Missouri, New Jersey and Arizona teams. These sessions proved to be very valuable in all phases of ideation and planning. We hope that this guide provides the same value in creating your own CSPDWeek.
Prior to the CSPDWeek model, the SC Department of Education (SCDE) hosted a CS Symposium in June 2017 (2 days) and June 2018 (3 days). They were looking to expand this symposium to a 5-day experience for teachers and reached out to CSTA South Carolina for assistance. The CSPDWeek model was pitched and ultimately decided upon for summer PD moving forward.
This Playbook has been updated to include resources from CSPDWeek events in South Carolina, Indiana, and Arizona, with guidance for both in-person and virtual events with different budget templates.
