Inventing with Code: Sparking Creativity Through Physical Computing
Physical Computing is one of the most inclusive approaches to introducing computer science to all students, with tangible inputs/outputs and the ability to creatively tinker, it’s a great approach for student engagement. Join us to learn more about physical computing with the micro:bit and Arduino-based boards.
- There will be 2 tracks available
- micro:bit for elementary & middle school
- Odyssey Board (Arduino-compatible board designed for beginning and intermediate students) for middle & high school
- This is a beginner workshop – no prior experience required
- 4 Free Washington State STEM clock hours are available for attending (CSTA Washington members only)
- Participants will be able to borrow both micro:bit and Odyssey Board kits for an entire classroom from PSESD (Puget Sound Educational Service District)
- Attendees should bring a laptop with a standard full size USB port (or an adaptor cable) to the session
- All participants will receive a micro:bit or Arduino-compatible Odyssey Board kit as part of the workshop
- Lunch, snacks, and beverages will also be provided
The price for the workshop is $12 for CSTA Washington members (membership is free) and $32 for non-members. Sign up by Feb 10 to receive this early-bird rate.
