Decoherence

The erosion of superposition and entanglement through undesired interaction with the surrounding environment. Uncontrolled interference, such as radiation, light, vibration, heat, or magnetic fields, can cause decoherence. For quantum information applications to be successfully completed, fragile quantum states must be preserved, or kept coherent.
