As an independent organization run by teachers for teachers, this membership fee will enable CSTA to sustain and enhance the value we provide to our community. Membership dues directly support our efforts to offer high-quality resources, professional development, and advocacy tailored specifically for CS educators.
We know that teachers value continuing education, and for the low cost of just $50, you’ll have access to the best on-demand CS PD — that you actually want to attend. And starting with this change, we’ll be able to track those professional development credits for you!
Yes, you will need to become a member to be considered a member of your local CSTA chapter. Your local chapter may have events throughout the year that will be open to non-members, but you will need to be a CSTA member to join officially.
Your basic membership will automatically transition into a free account with limited access to CSTA resources. You will retain access to a collection of resources, aligned to CSTA standards; your CSTA personalized dashboard, which will include access to a virtual log of your CS professional development history that you can upload experiences into; and CS Today, a weekly newsletter with updated CS education news.
For less than $5 per month, CSTA membership provides a cost-effective way to level up your skills, stay current in the field, and make a greater impact on your students. When you upgrade to CSTA membership, you’re not just paying a fee — you’re investing in your growth and success as a CS educator. Whether you teach just one CS class or all CS courses, consider the return on your $50 investment:
- Discounted registration for our annual conference
- Free registration for our Professional Learning Series
- Unlimited access to on-demand courses and webinars
- Exclusive opportunities to join local chapters and serve in leadership roles
Your membership will be applied in July, following CSTA 2025. If you want to upgrade before then, the membership you purchased with your conference registration will be applied the next time your membership renews.
The CSTA K–12 Computer Science Standards will remain accessible to anyone with a CSTA account; no membership is required.
Only CSTA members in good standing can volunteer with CSTA.
If the $50 annual fee for CSTA membership is a barrier, we want to make sure you know that we have options to help.

We want to make sure that every teacher who would benefit from a CSTA membership is able to access the support they need. If you need financial assistance, please reach out and we’ll help you find a solution.
If you’re an international member who cannot afford membership, please reach out to membership@csteachers.org, and our team will work with you to identify funding options.
