My CSTA Story
Since joining CSTA, Portia has found a professional home rooted in purpose, collaboration, and community. Having first gained access to computer science later in her education after not having the opportunity to take CS classes in middle school, she is deeply committed to ensuring that every learner has the chance to explore computing. Through her work with the MENTORS in CS program, Portia has witnessed the transformative power of mentorship—helping teachers gain confidence, strengthen their practice, and build meaningful connections across communities. CSTA has deepened her belief that equitable computer science education begins with supporting and empowering teachers.
