Language, Culture, and Computing: Asset-Based CS for Multilingual Learners with Wordplay

Although linguistic diversity is increasing in our schools, few CS curricula or coding platforms intentionally support multilingual students in culturally and linguistically sustaining ways. Attendees will explore a culturally relevant curriculum design and adaptation process, gain open access to the unit, engage in hands-on activities using Wordplay, and leave with practical ideas and resources to connect CS concepts to their students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
